APG tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for The Marie Curie Foundation & Ollerton Memory Café.
The APG companies are joining forces to raise money for two separate causes, helping both Marie Curie Foundation (helping terminally ill) & we will also be raising money for a more local cause, Ollerton Memory Café (sufferers of Alzheimer’s and Dementias). We are hoping to raise at least £1000. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is described as a gruelling 24-mile walk including climbs of 1585 meters and on average the walk takes between 10 -12 hours to complete.
Ashley Haigh, APG Managing Director, said the following:
“This challenge encourages staff to get out and exercise as we build up to the event and brings together a real sense of teamwork across the group. Hopefully, we’ll all complete the challenge and raise funds for a couple of very worthy causes!’
The walk will take place 11th August starting early in the morning, the team will be doing the hike unguided, stopping only for drinks and refreshments. The team will consist of employees all of APG’s divisions, ARK, BGB, Cannon & VRC. If you are interested in donating please visit our just-giving page & help us surpass our goal.
About the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge
The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
About the Marie Curie Foundation
Marie Curie is a registered charitable organisation in the United Kingdom which provides care and support to people with terminal illnesses and their families. In 1948, the same year as the National Health Service. In financial year 2014/15 the charity provided care to 40,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its nine hospices, along with support for their families. More than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals help provide this care.
About Ollerton Memory Café
The group offers a friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for people affected by memory loss, Alzheimer’s, and other dementias in Ollerton and surrounding areas. This group provides a great service and receives no funding so we would love to show them support. A self-help group operating independently of the Alzheimer’s Society.
