Role
As Financial Controller you will lead the central finance function, being responsible for Group Treasury, Payroll, month end reporting to the Board and wider business, monthly HMRC compliance and other reporting requirements such as audit, annual accounts preparation and taxation.
Responsible for managing a small finance team, reporting on all central cost departments as well as reporting the results for the group, ensuring speed, accuracy and delivering relevant insights.
You will be expected to bring an innovative approach to the wider finance team, looking to continually improve internal processes and controls and will enhance the reputation of the finance department. There will be times when you will have to roll up your sleeves and dig in, but you will be able to maintain sight of the ultimate end goal and how to get there.
This Senior role involves working closely with the Group Senior Leadership and the Finance team across the Asset Protection Group and provide support to the Group FD on other projects when required.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Group Finance Manager in preparing the monthly management accounts for central cost departments.
- Report Group performance against budget and provide explanation of variances.
- Managing the month end close process ensuring deadlines are achieved
- Responsibility for publication of flash reporting to the group senior leadership team
- Responsibility for preparation of the month end reporting packs for the Board
- Ownership of Group payroll process and reporting, inc CIS returns and P11ds
- Ownership of the Group VAT reporting and assisting with wider Group tax compliance
- Leading the annual audit, preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic reforecasts for the business.
- Be the internal lead for all technical accounting queries
- Lead an efficient Group Treasury Function supporting the team with the preparation of supplier and subcontractor payment runs, obtaining appropriate management approvals.
- Weekly monitoring and forecasting of group cashflow
- Monthly intercompany balance reconciliation and settlement.
- Management of the Group Finance Manager and Accounts Assistants to offer support and guidance.
- Develop appropriate board reporting of financial performance and key issues and risks facing the business.
- Undertaking financial administration and internal audits.
- Support the wider group team where required.
- Developing and managing financial systems and policies – Sage Intacct, Simpro and any other systems used
- Recommend methods and strategies for cutting cost and margin improvement.
- Support financial analysis and integration aspects of any acquisitions and strategic projects required.
- Support with Company Secretarial administration

- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- From a Professional Practice background
- Technically excellent with accuracy and attention to detail

- Strong Excel & Powerpoint skills
